Adult Class

adults only 18+ (men & women)
Max 4- 6 students per class – always on court; BEST CLASS SIZE IN CANADA
no membership fee required

What is a Class?

1hr sessions with a main theme to focus on (footwork, backhand, forehand etc.)
class time allocation: 25% is spent practicing groundstrokes, serves, returns & net play / 50% spent on the "theme" / 25% spent on games

Is there a recommended starting class?

there is no recommended starting class as each skill has its own unique learning pathway
regardless of class theme, all shots are still practiced

Is there a recommended sequence of classes?

there is no recommended sequence of classes, all are totally unique skills
choose whatever class that interests you

sharing packages with friends is permitted
students are allowed signing up for different levels that fits their game (ie. registering for a beginner level 1.5 "serve" class type & advanced-beginner 2.0 "forehand" class type

What is a "Challenger"?

What is the difference between "Challenger" & "Tournament"?

⁠challengers are 1hr - tournaments are 3+ hrs
⁠challengers have a max of 4 players - tournaments have a max of 8 players
challenger format is determined at the courts - tournament format is posted 2 days before event

Challenger Divisions

Rookie 1.0 (red balls) - we do not offer challengers at 1.0 level

Beginner 1.5 (orange balls) - understands maybe 20% of rules; needs umpire help on every point

Advanced-Beginner 2.0 - grasps 30+% of rules; umpire is often guiding players upon request

Challenger Format

depends on # of players that show up.

1 player = umpire vs player (umpire will play to your level)
2 players = singles (umpire on sidelines)
3 players = doubles (umpire is 4th player & plays to level of group)
4 players = doubles (umpire on sidelines)

* when umpire is on sidelines, umpire throws balls from hopper to server…less downtime picking up balls

Housekeeping

60 ft court stage 2 medium speed training balls used for the "Beginner 1.5" division
Full court & reg balls for all other divisions
tennis has a long history of "playing nice"😇 if a gap in skill level persists - don't worry about making multiple errors....skill differences always exist & the coach will help keep the "friendly play" 🤝 tradition alive.

Champion

most game wins within 1hr receives challenger medal or pinnie

What is a an Adult Social?

rally & play some friendlies (friendly games)
A qualified PAC BreakPoint coach will be on court to moderate; players will rally & warm up (approx 15min), then the coach will organize some friendlies (approx 45min)

- if 1 player; player vs coach

- if 2 players; player vs player

- if 3 players; player & coach vs 2 players

- if 4 players; doubles

- if 5 players; coach will organize a fun game of "live ball" (game that swaps losing player after every point)

- if 6 players; coach will organize a fun game of "live ball" (game that swaps losing player after every point)

Adult Singles King of the Court

Adults only (men & women) & no memberships required

Max 3 players; BEST FOR PLAYERS WANTING SINGLES GAMES

What is 'Adult Singles King of the Court'?

Play a game; winner stays (king), loser subs out next game
Players call their own game (no umpire)
Session is uncoached; however, a coach will play if only 1 student registers

Due to session being uncoached - all registered players MUST show up.

Failure to show up will result in limitations on future "king of the court" registrations & no shows will be suspended for future "king of the court" registrations

1st offense is a 1 month suspension

2nd offense is a suspension from future king of the court registrations for remainder of season

To avoid limitation on future "king of the court" registrations, players must give 4 hr notice, otherwise suspension will persist regardless of the reason (including family emergencies, injuries, traffic & car accidents)

BreakPoint will assign a coach if only 1 player registers.

Should 2 or 3 players register, & only 1 player shows up - the solo player will be refunded or given a gift card at 125% of their purchase price (note: there is an 8 min grace period for the 2nd player to arrive before refund & gift card is issued).

BreakPoint does absolutely everything possible to ensure "king of the court" sessions transpire: reminder emails, last min player recruitment, fines for no show - however the most we can offer is a refund or 125% gift card should your opponents not show up
